Welsh Farmyard

Welsh Farmyard by David KentishThis painting of a Welsh farmyard is of Berthlwyd Farm just to the west of Moelfre village, 3 miles from Llansilin near the border with Shropshire,  standing to the south-east of the Berwyns. The mountain in the background is Gyrn Moelfre, immortalised in the Hugh Grant film The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain.

In the late 50s and 60s the farm was occupied by Tudor Jones and his young family. Tudor used to pick up the Kentish children for a ride on the back of his tractor, from the milk drop-off point, along with his Welsh sheep dogs Jim and Flossy. In those days the milk was taken from the farm in large heavy galvanised milk churns.
