David did a picture for my birthday when I was very young [12 or 13]. It was of a row of silver birch trees, and as a child I had a pretend fairy called “Silver”. He did this painting for me and its done in the garden of Lythe Hill. The title he called it was “Silver’s Tree”.
I used to baby sit for Betsey. I also used to live with her and David for a bit when Mum and Dad had to go away. I have a vivid memory of Betsey making cinnamon toast for me!!!!!!!!! and driving David mad by wanting to paint when he did!
