White Lodge, Richmond Park. The Palladian house was built in 1730 as a hunting lodge for George II. It became home to the Royal Ballet School in 1955.

As a teenager David

Developed rather horribly precocious interest in ballet, spending hours queuing for the de Basil Company [Ballet Russe] at Convent Garden and paying regular visits to early days of Sadler’s Wells and Ballet Club [Ballet Rambert].

The Sadler’s Wells school became the Royal Ballet on it’s move to Richmond.
